Cross the Bridge to reach DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass), one of Brooklyn’s most diverse neighbourhoods. Originally known as Gairville, it was an industrial area filled with warehouses. In the late 1970s, its affordability attracted many artists. Today, DUMBO is a hub for artistic expression, featuring cafés, art galleries, and trendy boutiques.
Visit Empire Stores at DUMBO
The Empire Store, an old warehouse by the waterfront, now houses shops, restaurants, and offices. It’s a beautiful site worth visiting in DUMBO, especially for its rooftop views of the park, Bridge, and skyline. Inside, you’ll find a large home store, several restaurants, the Brooklyn Historical Society, and the Time-Out Market, featuring dishes from local eateries.
