Dumbo was known as Gairville, an industrial area which comes from the numerous warehouses that still stand today. There is an old warehouse near the waterfront called the Empire Store. It is now used as a building that has shops, restaurants, and offices. It is a beautiful building that is worth visiting if you’re visiting DUMBO. The view from the rooftop overlooking the park, the Bridge, and the skyline is just breathtaking! Inside the building, you will find a large home store, various restaurants, and the Brooklyn Historical Society. You’ll also find theTime-Out Market, a fun food market that offers dishes from local eateries.
