1. Edinburgh Castle
At the top of a Rock you see Edinburgh Castle. This place offers breathtaking views of the city. But there is more at Saturday from 9am-2pm you find the farmers market. If you like to see inside the Caslte, make sure to check the website in advance. Entry prices are between £17.50 to £20.50, depending on the season.
2. The Royal Mile
Running through the heart of the city’s Old Town, the Royal Mile is a lively street with shops, cafes, and pubs. This one-mile stretch connects Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Unlike main streets in other cities, the bars and restaurants on this street are quite good too. So whenever you feel like having a break, simply have a pint in one of the many bars.
While your walking the Royal Mile, make sure to have a look at ‘The World’s End‘. A famous pub that owes its name to its location. Back in the 16th century Edinburgh was a walled city. The gates to the city were situated outside the pub. As far as the people of Edinburgh were concerned, the world outside these gates was no longer theirs: hence the name, The World’s End.
3. Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh
Take a break at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. Located just a mile north of the city center, this oasis has a wide array of plant species from around the world. Entry is free, with a small fee for access to additional exhibitions.
4. Arthur’s Seat
This old volcano peak is just the place to be for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and ofcourse also of the city 😉 Located in Holyrood Park, entry to Arthur’s Seat is free, making it a perfect spot for a hike or picnic. Or you can book a trip if you don’t like to go there by yourself.

4. Museum of Scotland
Located on Chambers Street you find The Museum of Scotland. Here it is all about the rich history, culture, and achievements of the Scottish people. It covers a wide range of topics, including Scottish technology, art and design, ensuring there is something for visitors of all ages. We had a blast during our visit and were amazed by its size! Also, this museum is great to visit with kids thanks to its many interactive displays. Entry is free, but some special exhibitions may have a fee.
5. The Royal Yacht Britannia
The Royal Yacht Britannia, served the Royal Family over 44 years and can be found in the port of Leith, which is just a few miles from the city center. Just a perfect location allowing you to easily visit the ship and explore Leith. This place is known for its trendy bars and excellent seafood restaurants.

6. A Scotch Whisky Experience
For whisky enthusiasts, a visit to Johnnie Walker on Princes Street is a must! This place has it all and takes you on a journey to discover the art of whisky making.
